In late March 2017 Carney arrived at HMNB Clyde in Scotland in preparation for NATO Exercise Joint Warrior. On 27 July, 221.236.30.51 the frigate acquired underway and, after an unbiased transit of the Atlantic, finally arrived in Rota on 3 August. In September 1948, she was assigned to responsibility with the 6th Fleet within the Mediterranean and, in the spring of 1949, was transferred to the 2nd Fleet for exercises in the Caribbean. During the spring of 1958, she supplied logistic assist to antisubmarine groups in the western Atlantic.
